Assistant General Manager - 2 - Lancer - Point Defiance Zoo and Aquarium (Tacoma, WA)

POSITION SUMMARY

The Assistant General Manager (AGM) is responsible for the successful development and growth of the bar and service team. Overall tasks and responsibilities will include leadership of the service, beverage menu development, and inventory management. The AGM will work with the management and culinary teams to ensure all guest have memorable dining experience while driving the financial performance of the restaurant operation.


JOB RESPONSIBILITIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Oversees all components of beverage program and leads the seasonal development of new beverage menu items
  • Ensures all beverage products necessary for operation are ordered and delivered in a timely fashion
  • Establishes and monitors beverage cost control procedures, including receiving and transfers
  • Prepares and revises all beverage training materials and conduct regular staff training
  • Manages all aspects of the restaurant including staffing, operations, customer service, and client satisfaction
  • Manages bar team and maintains appropriate staffing schedule - ensuring adequate coverage while being mindful of labor costs
  • Handles cash and credit/debit card transactions; including daily safe count and reconciliation
  • Distributes cash drawers at the beginning of each shift
  • Runs end of day reports and completes nightly summaries
  • Ensures all dining, BOH, storage, and office areas are always clean and organized
  • Manages business related expenses and invoice entry in CTUIT
  • Performs daily payroll audits and submits weekly payroll reports
  • Conducts regularly Inventory of all beverage products.
  • Develops special events beverage packages that are cost-effective, and help boost special events check average
  • Ensures all restaurant equipment is working properly and communicate any maintenance/repair needs
  • Grows the restaurant business in terms of number of transactions and revenue through marketing and other promotional efforts
  • Ensures Health & Food Safety practices adhere to standards
  • Ensures responsible service of alcohol policies are implemented
  • Meets weekly with the management team to discuss operational challenges and solutions
  • Provides regular feedback and yearly performance reviews to members of bar team
  • Follows all procedures for any disciplinary actions or coaching sessions
  • Support implementation of SCG and Elior NA company initiatives
  • Assists the General Manager with the hiring, onboarding, and training of the service team


REQUIRED SKILLS & PHYSICAL DEMANDS



  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills
  • Proven ability to lead and develop a guest-focused bar team
  • Minimum 4 years of Management experience working in a full service, fine dining restaurant
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule including nights and weekends
  • Must possess excellent customer service skills and be able to confidently lead by example
  • POS knowledge and recent experience using Microsoft Office Suite and Caterxpert
  • Degree in Hospitality Management preferred
  • Able to stand for extended periods of time
  • Able to lift up to 30 lbs.
