As an Information System Security Engineer...

  • Your main responsibility will be to build solutions that incorporate cybersecurity from the beginning to protect the pioneering research conducted at APL.
  • You will participate as a security engineering representative on engineering, project, and development teams for the design, implementation, and/or integration of complex cyber systems.
  • You will support the execution of the Laboratory's Classified Information Security Program by applying your knowledge of information assurance, risk analysis and risk management across networks, secure enclaves, and projects.

Qualifications

You meet our minimum qualifications for the job if you...

  • Have acquired a BS in Computer Science, Information Assurance, Information Security System Engineering or a related field, 7+years of relevant experience as an ISSE on sophisticated programs, OR 11+ years of relevant ISSE experience.
  • Have a current DoD 8570 IASAE level 2 cybersecurity certification.
  • Have 5+ years working with the RMF, DAAPM, NISPOM, JSIG or other equivalent security frameworks.
  • Experience with DoD cybersecurity requirements and tools, including STIGs, SRGs, and cyber task orders.
  • Experience conducting independent research to develop solutions meeting organizational security and operational needs for efficiency and automation.
  • Experience with virtualization and network technologies.
  • Hold a current Secret security clearance with the ability to acquire a Top Secret/SSBI security clearance within six months. If selected, you will be subject to a government security clearance investigation and must meet the requirements for access to classified information. Eligibility requirements include U.S. citizenship.

You'll go above and beyond our minimum requirements if you...

  • Have a current CISSP-ISSEP certification or other ISSE specific certification.
  • Currently have active TS/SCI, or TS/SCI+poly security clearance.
  • Experience with cloud technologies and applications in classified environments.
  • Experience with Commercial Solutions for Classified (CSfC) capability packages.
  • Experience with HPC processing and data science tools.
