Job Responsibilities

As a member of our Data Platform team, you'll help build infrastructure and tools for collecting and processing data in streaming and batch pipelines. Your work will power access to data for a variety of use-cases, be it real-time stream processing, online data access, analytic data exploration or big data processing. Our mission is to enable our community of data scientists, analysts, and developers to derive faster insights and reduce TTM in order to fuel Viasat growth.

In this Software Engineer role, you will contribute work to core components of data ingestion and integration processing that intakes around 4 billon events per hour with data volume in excess of 30TB per day. You will help design and implement new features and enhancements to our data platform to advance component architecture towards strategic data governance/management objectives while providing ongoing support, monitoring, and maintenance of deployed products. Additionally, you will monitor emerging technologies/technology practices for potential use within the Company.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Math, Physics or related field
• 1+ years of software development experience using at least two of the following: Java, Scala, Python, C or C++
• Familiarity with RDBMS technologies (PostgreSQL, MySQL, Oracle, etc.)
• Familiarity with at least one cloud provider such as AWS, GCP, or Azure
• Experience in Linux based systems, docker, and code versioning tooling (Git/CI/CD)
• Team player with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced dynamic agile work environment
• Strong
• analytical abilities

• Understanding of distributed and parallel computing architectures
• Familiarity in design and implementation of robust and highly scalable Data services
• Familiarity with Big Data and Streaming technologies like Kafka and Spark
• Working experience in design, development, and implementation of highly scalable, high-volume software systems and components, client-facing web applications and systems as a full stack developer using one of the following: Java, Python, or Scala
