Research Technician, The Raghavan Lab Job ID: Overview The Raghavan Laboratory at the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute (DFCI) and Harvard Medical School is seeking a highly motivated, collaborative and dedicated full-time research technician with a Bachelor's degree in Biology, Biomedical engineering, or related field to join the group. The Raghavan lab investigates how tumor cell states shape cancer cell behaviors, microenvironmental interactions, and therapeutic sensitivity and resistance, with a primary focus in pancreatic and biliary cancers. We apply a variety of techniques including single-cell sequencing of patient samples and cell models, patient-derived organoid culture, high throughput drug testing, and CRISPR engineering with the long-term goal of identifying new state- and context-specific cancer vulnerabilities. We work closely with clinicians in the Gastrointestinal Cancer Center at DFCI to combine clinical observations and patient-derived data with rigorous basic science investigation to identify impactful translational advances that ultimately improve patient care. Responsibilities We are seeking an enthusiastic, responsible, and motivated candidate with prior research experience in molecular and cellular biology and a minimum of a Bachelor's degree in Biology, Biochemistry, Bioengineering, or related disciplines. The ideal candidate will be detail- and goal-oriented, be able to work independently with appropriate supervision, and possess excellent organizational skills including the ability to handle a variety of tasks in a fast-paced environment. Strong interpersonal, communication, and analytical skills are also essential. Candidates with availability for a two-year commitment and interested in pursuing M.D., Ph.D., or M.D./Ph.D. training will benefit most from this laboratory experience. This individual will work with a post-doctoral fellow or fellows using cutting-edge molecular biology, genomic, and pharmacologic techniques in a highly collaborative, stimulating, and multi-disciplinary research environment. This experience will enable the candidate to advance their skills in basic cancer biology with an eye toward translational applications for cancer care. The ability to work independently and to master a variety of cellular and molecular biology techniques is essential for this role, as are good organizational and communication skills, a desire to learn new scientific approaches, and the ability to function effectively within a team. All technicians will be authors on manuscripts published in the laboratory. Highly motivated and talented technicians will be given increasing responsibility and may eventually lead projects. She/he will also help with common lab maintenance tasks such as ordering supplies and aliquoting reagents. She/he will meet regularly with Dr. Raghavan to assess progress and receive mentorship and guidance. Specific duties will include:
