AFC Cable Systems, a part of Atkore, currently has openings for 3rd shift Wire Testers in our New Bedford, MA facility. Monday through Friday (occasional Saturdays may be required) however training may take place on any shift.

Reporting to Manufacturing Supervisor, the Wire Tester's primary focus will ensure proper and consistent operation of the Wire Testing process. Performs daily safety inspections and produces a good quality product. Additional essential functions include, but are not limited to:



  • Performs daily safety inspection of work area
  • Performs daily inspections of the High Voltage Testing Equipment and PPE pursuant to those testing procedures
  • Performs Dielectric Checklist
  • Inspection of Switchboard Mat
  • Inspection of Leads
  • Performs Dielectric set-up tests to ensure ground protection is working properly
  • Receives and inspects cable from coilers
  • Performs dielectric testing process on each coil of cable
  • Completes all necessary paperwork
  • Performs housekeeping of machine and area


Qualifications



  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions.
  • Must have the ability to understand, and carry out verbal and written instructions in English.
  • Ability to meet physical requirements including: a variety of standing, sitting and walking throughout the day.
  • Must be capable of lifting, pulling or pushing at least 50 lbs.
  • Must possess basic skills in order to maintain safe operation as required by particular job task.
  • Must keep working area neat and orderly.
  • Must be willing to work overtime.
  • Must have dependability, good attendance and strong work ethic.
