Job Summary: This position is responsible for analyzing, developing, and testing code as part of software engineering development lifecycle. Job Duties / Essential Functions: Models' ethical behavior and executes job responsibilities in accordance with Citizen's core values, ethics, and information protection policies.
- Analyze, develop, document and/or test medium to high complexity software component changes in one or more engineering stack (UI, Servicing, Integrations, etc.) to meet acceptance criteria while adhering to development and quality standards.
- Research, analyze business requirements and troubleshoot medium to high complexity enhancements, bugs, defects, or changes.
- Contributes to developing or enhancing DevSecOps practices as secure engineering and continuous integration/development/testing.
- Collaborate with business representatives to estimate and plan prioritized backlog items.
Qualifications
Required Education and Experience:
- Associate/Technical Degree OR 3 year's relevant experience, OR a combination of both college and experience equivalent to 5 years.
- Bachelor's degree in computer science/ Information Technology or related field OR a combination of college education and relevant experience equivalent to 5 years.
- Master's Degree in a relevant field may substitute for 1 year of experience as well as PhD in a relevant field may substitute for 1 year of experience.
Required Skills:
- Advanced skills associated with software design, modification, implementation and deployment, including object-oriented programming concepts.
- Knowledge and demonstrated ability with Java programming, configuring Guidewire Platform (configuration and integration)
- Experience with full SDLC and appreciation for Iterative (Agile) development lifecycle as used in GW implementations.
- Knowledge of secure software development
- Experience configuring and developing several areas of Policy Center - Policy Transactions/Job Configuration, Experience implementing multiple LOBs, Product Modeling, Quoting, Rating Management, Reinsurance Management, Forms Management, Policy Revisioning, UW Authority, Account Management, Contacts, Locations, User Management, Producer Management and Policy Center Administration
- Robust understanding of Policy Center Data Model
- Experience in GW Configuration Development (Expertise in GOSU, Rules Engine, Data Model, PCF, Wizards, Workflow, Activity and Product Model development)
- Experience with XML, GUnit, Jenkins, GIT/Subversion/TFS, Code Coverage and Code Scan Plugin/Tools
- Experience with Application Servers like WebSphere, WebLogic, JBoss and/or Tomcat
- Experience with Database Servers like SQL Server, Oracle, and/or DB2
- Excellent communication skills and interpersonal skills
- Intermediate ability to effectively present technical topics to small and medium size technical groups
- Demonstrated ability to communicate technical information to technical and non-technical personnel at various levels of the organization.
Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree with minimum 3 years of software engineering experience OR 5 years of relevant experience in lieu of a college degree.
- Knowledge of modern engineering practices like Test Driven Development, Behavior driven development, Acceptance test driven development.
- Basic knowledge of DevOps concepts.
Technical Skills Highly Preferred to Have:
- J2EE Full Stack Application Development
- UI, UX, API & Web Full Stack
- Guidewire
