Project Department Manager

Main purpose of the job:

Manage the projects department to build a customer centric strategy and mindset. This position will oversee project managers as they perform their duties to guarantee jobs are profitable and successful for both customer and Codale. They will work with the Director of Contractor Sales to identify and land/acquire projects consistent with Codale's overall sales strategy.



  • Assign duties and responsibilities to project personnel
  • Create an outstanding culture, working with all team members to monitor and effectively manage projects
  • Communicate with project managers to determine project requirements and objectives
  • Develop timelines for all projects and implement all job requirements
  • Engage a team of project managers with a focus on motivation, coaching, developing the team on how to expertly achieve program goals.
  • Navigate in an ever-changing, sophisticated environment with numerous partners making sure Codale delivers on time projects and according to estimates, even when the plan or project takes unexpected turns.
  • Support estimators throughout the bid process
  • Ensure project managers are correctly managing projects, including releasing product on schedule, tracking shipments, and expediting direct to customer.
  • Oversee project managers budgets, timelines, deliverables, and workflows internally and externally
  • Enforce project managers to create project status presentations for delivery to customers or project personnel
  • Focus on project teams' health and motivation by helping the team eliminate obstacles, troubleshooting when things are off-track and leading scope immobility.
  • Confer with project personnel to identify and resolve problems
  • Drive productivity through project management fundamentals, framework and best practices
  • Collaborate across functional groups using project management software
  • Bring account managers, engineers, Codale's project manager team and the contractors' team or anyone that the project would involve together to drive clear, concise actionable meetings
  • Ability to proactively identify and assess risks in all project planning and have mitigation plans to avoid pitfalls
  • Assist Director of Contractor Sales with department level operation initiatives such as department processes, scope of work, and department financials
  • Ensure proper procedures, task are clearly defined, schedules and estimates are adhered to and protocols are followed for submittals, O&Ms, RFIs, ASIs, RFQs, and HFR
  • Drive adoption of digital job center tool/platform by project managers
  • Manage overall profitability of jobs
  • Hire, train and develop new project managers
  • Maintain healthy relationships with vendors and vendor representatives
  • Work with different functional areas (sales and specialists) to drive sales growth
  • Support corporate initiatives to grow sales of automation, lighting, and tools product lines
  • Work closely with customers to ensure open and regular communication throughout entire process


Minimum work experience requirements:



  • 5+ years project management, preferably in the electrical industry
  • 5 years' experience managing a team


Minimum education requirements:



  • Preferred experience in project and construction management
  • Preferred Bachelor's in project management, construction management or supply chain and logistics
