The Building & Grounds position performs general custodial tasks from detailed instructions at various residence halls/apartment buildings/faculty residences/campus rentals.
This position re-posts to the Facilities Operations Supervisor at the assigned location.

Responsibilities: Responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited, to the following:

Cleaning (75%): Performs routine, institutional cleaning within assigned areas of University Residence Halls such as residence rooms, offices, lobbies, bathrooms, hallways, stairwells, and other public and private areas using industrial strength cleaning products and heavy duty industrial cleaning equipment. Sweeps, mops, strips and refinishes floors; vacuums and cleans carpets and walk-off mats; washes windows, walls and other painted surfaces; empties waste baskets, trash receptacles and recycling containers. Replenishes bathroom supplies such as filling soap dispensers and toilet paper holders. Changes light bulbs and cleans lighting fixtures which can be reached by a 12 ft. step ladder.

Bed Making & Linen Exchange (10%): Assembles, disassembles and makes beds. Collects and distributes linens and toiletries during summer conferences.

Loading, Unloading supplies and Moving Furniture (10%): Stocks cleaning and linen supplies. Moves furniture, office equipment, tables, chairs and various kinds of heavy equipment.

Grounds Maintenance & Snow Removal (3%): Performs limited grounds keeping work such as raking, sweeping and power washing sidewalks, dock and trash holding areas. Removes snow from sidewalks and stairs by sweeping, shoveling and use of powered snow removal equipment as required.

Other: (2%) Reports deficiencies in building systems and components to supervisor as appropriate. Maintains clean, neat and safe custodial closets and storage areas in assigned areas. Maintains assigned custodial equipment in optimal working condition.

Work environment: Work is mainly performed inside the building but occasional work outside may be required.

Starting Hourly Rate: $20.00 ($17.92 - Step 1 + $2.08 - Augmentation)

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications: (Knowledge, skills and abilities)

Ability to read, write and comprehend English. Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds on an occasional basis and meet the other physical requirements of the position. This position must pass a criminal background check.

Regular attendance is an essential quailification for this position
