Recreation Coach

Position Summary:

Design, coordinate, and facilitate social, cultural, and educational activities and outings, while establishing and maintaining effective relationships with youth. Further, demonstrates appropriate boundaries with youth, and ensures appropriate care and supervision.

Essential Duties:



  • Acquires, maintains, teaches and demonstrates knowledge of Prevention of Sexual Abuse (PSA) and Sexual Harassment standards at care provider facilities, evidence-based practices, and trauma-informed care and maintains a professional environment that is consistent with Title 22, licensing regulations, and established agency policies.
  • Design, coordinate, and facilitate recreational activities for youth.
  • Regularly transport youth to recreation activities.
  • Develop recreation calendars and schedules.
  • Collaborates to identify and connect youth to community recreation resources.
  • Provides individual recreational services based on treatment plans.
  • Prepare timely and accurate documentation.
  • Demonstrate effective and consistent Therapeutic Crisis Intervention
  • Actively engage and encourage youth towards their treatment goals and in daily living.
  • Represent the agency and clients with in a positive manner when engaging and interacting within the community, while with volunteers, and with various stakeholders.
  • Distribute, collect recreation funds and track expenditures
  • Plan, coordinate and supervise individual, group and virtual volunteer activities
  • Participate in weekly team meeting to develop recreation and volunteer programs
  • Provide training to program staff on recreation and volunteer engagement
  • Communicate and collaborate with treatment team members to ensure the success of activities
  • Organize, inventory, distribute recreation and volunteer supplies/donations


Minimum Qualifications

BA/BS in related field will be paid at higher rate. Without relevant degree must meet alternative minimum qualifications established by contracting agency. Experience working with youth in a recreational setting strongly preferred. Bilingual Preferred.

Additional Requirements:



  • Must possess and maintain a valid, unrestricted California driver's license and current vehicle insurance.
  • Must be able to successfully complete and maintain required certifications and training including, but not limited to, Therapeutic Crisis Intervention and First Aid/CPR.
  • Must be able to understand and follow policy and procedures.
  • Must be able to document services, incidents, and other required forms/documents
  • Must be able to work professionally with outside stakeholders, community members, volunteers.
  • Must work independently and be adaptable to meet programmatic needs.
  • Must be able to demonstrate critical thinking skills.


Salary Range : $42,640 - $46,904

The posted pay scale for this position serves as a general disclosure. Actual pay offered within the range will be dependent on individual factors such as skills, qualifications, and relevant experience.
