Student: Cleanroom Operations Assistant

We are seeking to immediately hire a student to assist in laboratory-wide contamination control activities. Responsibilities and experience will include chemical and thermal vacuum laboratory tasks, precision cleaning of aerospace hardware, and cleanroom and laboratory supply stocking and maintenance.

Required Qualifications:

  • Must be a current USU student pursuing a degree in Chemistry, Physics, or related field
  • Strong aptitude for laboratory work
  • Emphasis on safe laboratory practices
  • Ability to apply basic principles of chemistry and physics in real situations
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Self-motivated and capable of following through on assigned tasks
  • Ability to work 15-20 hours per week during the school year and 30-40 hours per week during the summer
  • Must be a US citizen, lawful permanent resident of the US, or other US person

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Freshman or Sophomore in school
  • Successful completion of general chemistry lecture/lab
  • Experience with high vacuum equipment is a plus

Work Environment & Physical Requirements
  • To support cleanroom work, must be able to walk and stand for extended periods of time
  • Must be able to lift and reach above head frequently
  • Must be able to put on Personal Protective Equipment independently
  • Must be comfortable working safely with chemicals in a cleanroom environment
