Job Overview:

Responsible for the direction of Monmouth Medical Center s Special Care Center: Geriatrics Department, Center for Arthritis and Rheumatologic Conditions & Center For Diabetes Education. Responsible for planning, organizing, coordinating, and evaluating the management and clinical practice activities at the Special Care Center. Leads services in a dynamic process of adaptation to service goals, changes in the healthcare system and response to customer demands. Fosters autonomy, accountability and professional & personal growth & development of staff.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • Bachelor s Degree
  • Minimum of five years experience in an ambulatory health setting
  • Minimum of five years management experience
  • Critical thinking and analytical skills a must
  • General knowledge of Physician Compensation models and Contract Terminology
  • Microsoft Office proficient

Preferred:

  • Master s Degree
  • Experience overseeing multiple locations
  • Effective working knowledge of healthcare financial management, medical practice accounting, third party reimbursement issues, patient flow and facilities management
  • Prior experience working in a clinical capacity

Essential Functions:

  • Apply financial principles and practices in preparing and managing annual operating/capital budgets that support department goals
  • Developing staffing patterns reflective of needed hours for patient care and appropriate staff mix
  • Demonstrate proactive approach to daily operation of department
  • Supervise department business functions-reports, records, documents, time sheets, schedules, invoices and collection
  • Oversee registration, billing and scheduling functions for Special Care Center
  • Responsible for development and coordination of MMC s Department of Geriatrics van transportation service
  • Effectively communicate with medical staff on behalf of patients and nursing
  • Collaborate with chairman of departments & medical staff for Special Care Center services
  • Collaborate with Marketing /PR department & community organizations to increase Special Care Center s market share by promoting programs, services and physicians
  • Participate in community education & outreach while establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with a variety of community organizations to promote department services
  • Ensure knowledge of standards of care and communicating acceptable practice standards through evaluation of outcomes and staff performance
  • Participate in selection and review of standards of care for clinical area
  • Responsible for compliance with regulatory requirements from JCAHO, NJDOH, OSHA, ADA and others as applicable
  • Establish and maintain an environment that encourages risk-taking, autonomy and change as appropriate
  • Act as a resource and role model for staff & colleagues. Support teamwork by researching & cooperatively sharing information
  • Responsible for hiring & retention of staff, staff development, and creating an environment where staff feel valued
  • Attend continuing education courses to seek out and apply new professional/technical concepts
  • Establish clear specific performance standards & expectations for staff members
  • Meet annual performance goals established for departments, obtain expected results, e.g. service and productivity targets
