The Center for Excellence in Disabilities at West Virginia University Research Corporation is currently accepting applications for a WIPA Intake Specialist/Employment Support.

About the Opportunity

The purpose of this position is to provide coordination, referral assistance, and link individuals to Community Work Incentive Coordinators (CWIC).

As a WIPA Intake Coordinator/Employment Specialist, you will serve as the first point of contact for the Work Incentives Planning and Assistance (WIPA) Program. You will be responsible for interviewing all program participants, completing the appropriate program enrollment process/documents and providing participants with information and materials about the services offered. Responsibilities include supporting the WIPA Team with daily activities such as processing paperwork, faxing information to outside providers, telephonic customer service, documenting in electronic charts and complex data entry. Will also provide job-seeking assistance to clients participating in the Disability Employment Services program, and additional projects as assigned.

What you'll do:



  • Facilitate referral process by obtaining required documentation needed for WIPA clients to access services.
  • Identify client needs, medical supports, environmental impediments, and progress through interviews and review of client records.
  • Maintain sensitive, private health information in accordance with HIPAA standards and regulations.
  • Communicate client needs to CWIC as needed, provide support to client to establish communication with CWIC for ongoing needs.
  • Conduct phone and in person interviews to ensure that beneficiaries qualify for Work Incentives Planning and Assistance (WIPA) services.
  • Complete the referral and initial intake process and coordinate referral assignments to CWIC staff.
  • Capture all pertinent information to ensure assigned CWIC can provide individualized WIPA services.
  • Accurately record all scheduling and service coordination contacts in appropriate data system.
  • Maintain beneficiary case files in an accurate and efficient manner.
  • Create and mail letters, materials, SSA-3288s, WIPA brochure, CWIC information to program participants and partners of the program.
  • Receive, track and upload consents, SSA -3288s and Benefits Planning Queries (BPQY).
  • Assist with creating/revising program materials.
  • Provide job coaching and pre-employment services to clients working with the Center for Excellence in Disabilities at WVU.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a human services or social services field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • A minimum of two (2) years of experience working with individuals with disabilities in areas of federal/state benefits, vocational rehabilitation/employment services, partner resource identification, or job coaching.
  • Highly deductive problem solving, with the ability to perform medium to complex math during complicated benefits analyses.
  • Technical writing skills.
  • Deductive ability with analytical thinking and creative problem-solving skills.
  • Interviewing skills.
  • Communication skills (written and verbal).
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Ability to interpret Federal laws, regulations and administrative code about public benefits.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology and awareness of cultural and political issues pertaining to various populations and to various disabilities.


Certifications:



  • Will receive training and certification within position.
  • Applicant must be able to pass Social Security Administration Tier 2 Security Clearance.

Requirements

  • Valid US driver's license.
