Behavioral Specialist

Position Summary

Assist with managing classroom environment including crisis intervention and de-escalation, monitoring and controlling student movement, and engaging in one-to-one supervision of students as necessary to ensure safe and nurturing learning environment.

Shifts Available:

Monday to Friday - 7:00 am to 3:00pm

Monday to Friday - 7:30 am to 3:30pm

Essential Duties:



  • Acquires, maintains, teaches and demonstrates knowledge of Prevention of Sexual Abuse (PSA) and Sexual Harassment standards at care provider facilities, evidence-based practices, and trauma-informed care and maintains a professional environment that is consistent with Title 22, licensing regulations, and established agency policies.
  • Provide support to students and faculty in maintaining a safe, contained learning environment.
  • Minimize classroom disruption by anticipating problems and taking appropriate action to avoid crises, interdict disruptive students, and calmly manage challenging situations.
  • Assist in conducting behavioral contracts, one-on-one supervision, 15-minute watch directives and other interventions intended to manage individual students as well as maintain safe environment.
  • Implement Therapeutic Crisis Intervention as needed to ensure safety of student and the environment.
  • Assist to manage overall student behavior in the classroom by establishing and enforcing rules and expectations.
  • Monitor and supervise student transitions, meal periods, and breaks.
  • Escort/transport students to/from school/campus and on instructional outings as needed


Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution strongly preferred or two years' experience working in a residential treatment program for adolescents AND two years' of college may be considered for the position.

Spanish speaking preferred.

Additional Requirements



  • Must possess and maintain a valid, unrestricted California driver's license.
  • Experience working with ESL students strongly preferred. (UCP School) Must obtain and maintain TCI certification, First Aid/CPR, and all other required trainings/certifications.


Salary Range : $42,203 - $46,652

The posted pay scale for this position serves as a general disclosure. Actual pay offered within the range will be dependent on individual factors such as skills, qualifications, and relevant experience.
