About the Job

Dr. Shekinah Fashaw Walters is a health services researcher whose research focuses on understanding the inequities in aging while elucidating and explicitly naming racism as a fundamental determinant of health inequities within long-term care.

The research professional will be supported by a research grant funded through the National Institute on Aging. The research project documents experiences related to racism and race-related discrimination and supports the development of new measures. This position (available now) will provide hourly funding, up to 14 hours per week, through June 2024.

Position Duties and Responsibilities

Complete all necessary human subjects research and similar training, and ensure appropriate data privacy and security
Attend meetings with Dr. Fashaw-Walters, consultants, co-investigators and Policy, Equity, and Aging CarE (PEACE) lab team on a regular basis to manage project responsibilities and review tasks.
Manage recruitment via in-person and remote correspondence and permissions
Conduct screening interviews (including cognitive assessments), capacity to consent assessments, and administer informed consent
Review and modify research protocol to support project needs
Facilitate research data collection (telephone, mail, or online surveys; telephone interviews)
Lead qualitative data analysis team
Support and compile routine safety and monitoring reports
Contribute to research project dissemination (manuscripts, presentations, etc.)
Other activities as assigned to support the project team

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:
Doctorate degree and experience leading qualitative analysis
Prior experience working with Black American, African American, and African cultural group members in a volunteer or professional setting
Demonstrated ability to work effectively interpersonally and professionally in a team
Strong attention to detail and ability to ensure research compliance
Ability to enter and manage data from various sources
Excellent organizational skills

Preferred Qualifications:
High school graduate or equivalent
Those having completed CITI training
Prior experience entering, managing, and coordinating sources of data
Experience enrolling, interviewing, and administering surveys to research participants
