Emergency Medical Technician (EMT)

Position Summary

DarkStar Intelligence is actively seeking skilled EMTs for full-time roles at SMTC, Camp Lejeune, NC, to support the Boat Tactics Branch, Deployable Specialized Forces, and Expeditionary Branch in both high-risk and non-high-risk training exercises across the Camp Lejeune Training Areas. Operating under the supervision of the SMTC Senior Medical Officer (SMO), EMTs will provide vital emergency medical support during live-fire exercises. The comprehensive EMT Services include advanced life support, administrative transfers, patient transports to and from range sites, and field ambulance services, all adhering to the industry standards of Emergency Medical Services as mandated by North Carolina state regulations.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities
  • Advanced life support ambulance service, administrative transfers, transports to and from range sites, patient transports, and field ambulance services as defined in industry standard Emergency Medical Services and by the state of North Carolina
  • Completing Health Information Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) training annually.
  • Assisting SMTC Medical Department where otherwise needed to include general administration for training support preparation and medical equipment inventory.
  • Documenting all medical interventions on Standard Form-600, in compliance with DOD Medical Standards and to the level of their training and certification.
  • Writing reports in a clear, concise manner of what injuries were identified during an emergency or medical encounters.
  • Development and validation of the latest emergency medical protocols ensuring the best emergency medical care is available for SMTC using the training/sustainment program approved by the American College of Surgeons (ACS), the National Association of Emergency Medical Technicians, and U.S. Special Operations Command (USSOCOM).
  • Learning the Tactics, Techniques, and Procedures (TTPs) associated with the high-risk training evolutions that are conducted daily. Candidates must remain fully engaged in supporting these protocols to provide adequate emergency support. Department of Homeland Security EMS Basic and Advance Protocols and instructions shall be reviewed prior to standing EMS duties.
  • Maintain accountability for USCG equipment and vehicles.
  • Other duties may be assigned.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Background in National/Homeland Security, either through education or experience.
  • At least FIVE (5) years' experience as civilian EMT - OR- military enlisted medical field.
  • Current National Registry of EMTs (NREMT) certification -OR- North Carolina State EMT License (EMT-I & EMT-P).
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certification.
  • Carry gear and equipment weighing up to 150lbs.
  • A valid driver's license.
  • Willing to receive the mandatory seasonal influenza vaccination.
  • Physical Requirements: Stand, walk, sit, lift, carry, use their hands to handle or feel objects, tools or controls, reach with hands and arms, climb stairs, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl, talk and hear, speak and be understood on a two-way radio, move human casualties and/or equipment up to 150 lbs., and handle exposure to extreme conditions (heat and cold environments while on field coverage).
  • Willing to work other than normal duty hours, including evenings, weekends, holidays and/or longer than 12 or more hour shifts due to emergencies or when training evolutions are extended to meet training objectives. Typical work hours are Monday-Friday between 0700-1700 depending on range scheduling. Flexibility is required.
