Position Summary:

Vallen's Lead Inventory Control Coordinator is a position responsible for performing and overseeing inventory audits, cycle counts and solving the root cause of inventory discrepancies. They lead associates in performing timely warehouse and/or manufacturing planned and ad-hoc activities (QA audits, product/sku counts, inventory and/or materials inspections, etc.). They are responsible for maintaining an inventory accuracy percentage acceptable within Vallen standards.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Staff management duties include, but are not limited to: interviewing, selecting, hiring, coaching, training, delegating work assignments while enforcing company policies, procedures, and productivity standards.
  • Carries out inventory and/or material auditing schedules (daily, weekly, monthly, annually); delegates daily associate work/audit assignments.
  • Prepares and provides management reports from which business decisions are made; reports on Vallen's standardized operating metrics (e.g., KOLPI's - Key Operating Logistics Performance Indicators); runs discrepancy reports daily; visually verifies entries and makes adjustments to correct discrepancies.
  • Maintains accurate system of record for inventories.
  • Performs audits and leads counting initiatives; researches product and/or sku discrepancies.
  • Monitors products entering the Quality Assurance area through visual inspections and the use of reports; ensures products enter and exit the area in a timely manner while ensuring a high level of accuracy.
  • Performs routine inspections on equipment, working tools and work area to ensure a safe environment; provides feedback and resolution to unsafe conditions and equipment; conducts routine safety trainings and inspections on associate's safety compliance; recognizes and rewards the achievement of safety objectives.
  • Supports sales growth through excellent customer service and assisting with management of supply chain solutions; encourages and promotes a high level of customer service with accurate and on-time deliveries.
  • Collaborates and coordinates activities with appropriate functional areas to ensure availability of merchandise and accurate product and/or sku system of record.
  • Participates in on-going process improvement initiatives.
  • Provides mentorship regarding the use of lean tools and concepts.
  • Maintains a safe and secure work environment.
  • Performs other duties as requested.

Job Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree with 3+ years of related business experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience that gives the individual the necessary knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the job. Experience should include:

  • Strong computer knowledge and aptitude to learn various applications mandatory; experience with a Warehouse Management System preferred - knowledge of Control and SX.e a plus; or knowledge of manufacturing operational software preferred.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the various warehousing functions, such as loading, unloading, picking, packing, shipping, and moving goods throughout a distribution center/warehouse environment; or demonstrated knowledge of various manufacturing operations functions, such as machine operations, materials management, production testing, engineering, and/or quality assurance and control.
  • Demonstrated ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, work orders, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Strong communication skills, effective problem-solving skills, demonstrated use of sound judgment, good organizational skills, and the ability to work effectively in team oriented environment.
  • Ability to maintain composure, effectiveness, and be flexibility under pressure.
  • Demonstration of basic mathematical skills (add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units to measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals); ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent preferred.
  • Ability to compile routine reports and write correspondence.
  • Ability to work in a team environment and be self-motivated to accomplish assigned tasks and goals.

Work Environment & Physical Demands:

  • Work environment may not be temperature controlled; must have the ability to work in extreme hot or cold environments; must be able to work in dusty environments.
  • Long periods of time working on a computer and performing repetitive key-boarding activities.
  • Extended day, evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand and may include little to no advanced notice.
  • May be required to handle hazardous materials and wear various forms of protective equipment (shoes, gloves, protective eyewear, etc.).
  • May be required to drive a forklift and/or operate other standard warehouse equipment.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
  • May be required to pass forklift and/or other warehouse equipment certifications (written and/or driving).
  • Must be able to handle and work physical inventory; required to lift up to 25 lbs or greater with assistance following standard operating and safety procedures. Other physical requirements including, regularly being required to stand, walk, kneel, bend, crouch, crawl, climb and balance.
  • Close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus are required.
